Frequently Asked Questions

About Anchor Literacy & Learning

Q: What is Anchor Literacy & Learning?
Anchor Literacy & Learning is a specialized resource center dedicated to supporting children with dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning differences. We provide evidence-based reading instruction, writing support, and tutoring tailored to each child’s needs. We also offer parent resources and consultations to help families navigate their child’s educational journey.

Our Approach

Q: What makes Anchor Literacy & Learning different from other tutoring centers?
We specialize in Structured Literacy and follow an Orton-Gillingham approach, which is explicit, systematic, and multisensory. This method is proven to help students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences. Every session is personalized, progress is closely monitored, and we collaborate with families to set meaningful goals.

Q: Do you only work with students who have dyslexia?
No. While we specialize in dyslexia, our expertise also includes helping students with ADHD, reading delays, math delays, writing difficulties, and other language-based learning differences.

Q: How do you determine my child’s starting point?
We begin with a comprehensive intake and informal assessment. This helps us identify your child’s strengths, areas for growth, and the best instructional path forward.

Programs & Services

Q: How long is each tutoring session?
Most sessions are 50 minutes, although accommodations may be made based on each, individual student.

Q: How often should my child attend?
For optimal progress, we recommend at least 2–3 sessions per week. However, we will work with your family’s schedule to find a plan that works.

Scheduling & Tuition

Q: Do you offer in-person or online sessions?
We tutor in-person but can create an occasional virtual session due to sickness, vacation, etc.

Q: How do I schedule sessions?
Once your child is enrolled, login instructions will be emailed to you and you can schedule through our online portal.

Q: What is your tuition or fee structure?
Tuition depends on the program and frequency of sessions. (See Home Page for details)

Q: Do you offer payment plans?
Payment is due at the beginning of each month unless an alternate plan has been agreed upon by the family and tutor and/or director.

Progress & Communication

Q: How will I know if my child is making progress?
We provide regular progress updates and session notes in the student portal. Should you wish to schedule a meeting with the tutor to discuss your child’s progress, please do so during your child’s scheduled session time.

Q: Can you coordinate with my child’s school?
Absolutely. With your permission, we can communicate with teachers, special education staff, or other professionals to ensure a consistent support plan.
